About Dahab and Stay Young Hotel
Dahab
Dahab
is an increasingly popular part of Egypt, this became the place
to be for back-packers during the early 90s. Dahab has it all
and anyone can afford it. It is no secret Dahab is most famous
for the diving and specially the Blue Hole. While many people
see Egypt as it was, a country for seeing the pyramids and temples,
others have now discovered what Egypt has become, the water sport
capitol of the world. What makes Dahab a particularity important
place is that it holds the possibility of diving,
snorkeling, wind surfing and kite
surfing in one place without any form of traveling.
You
can go down to the Lighthouse (beach and restaurant area) and
walk straight into the water and start your dive. You don't have
to spend all the money on a luxurious cruise boat, Dahab leaves
you with a choice. You can choose after your budget, maybe you
want to do 10 dives and see all the unique local sights for a
cheap price or you can choose to spend some more on trips like
Ras Abu Galum and Thistlegorm.
Most of the diving in Dahab is shore diving and since the visibility
is so good in the red sea you can easily snorkel all the dive
sights and i can assure you that you that nowhere else you will
get this much out of snorkeling.
The
wind and kite surfing conditions
have just been discovered by the eyes of the world and there is
a reason for it. The Lagoona has what the wind surfers and kite
surfers dreamed about, an area that is windy, flat ocean and shallow
water. We have many wind surfing and kite surfing schools with
excellent instructors and unbeatable prices.
Dahab is also famous for the Sinai
Mountain where moses received the 10 commandments. In that
mountain they built the Saint Catherine
monastery around 520 A.C. The chapel itself was built by order
from empress Helen, the mother of Constantin the great who was
the first roman emperor to convert to Christianity and end the
prosecution of Christians.
Dahab has it all you can do Quad bikes in the desert, mountain
climbing, diving, snorkeling, kite surfing, wind surfing, yoga,
massage, clubbing, shopping
and it has an unlimited number of amazing safaris
out in the deserts of Sinai.

Stay young
Stay
Young is located within a hotel by the name Jowhara and it was
one of the first hotels to be built in Dahab. Back then Jowhara
was only a Bedouin camp with some Bedouin huts, since then it
grew into a beautiful 55 room hotel. It was completely rebuilt
and is now one of the biggest hotels in Mashraba (centre of Dahab).
The Jowhara hotel itself is owned and run by Mohammed Soleiman
from the El-towery family that is one of the original families
of Dahab and have deep roots all over the Sinai peninsula.
Stay
Young is a part of the hotel, but is under a different management.
Stay Young is a very special hotel in Dahab, because it is not
only a hotel, it is an art project. We have taken the time to
create unique wall murals (paintings) in all of our 12 rooms.
The art work was created by a Norwegian artist (Øyvind
Fiksdal) and a Korean artist (Young H. Chung). Each of the rooms
are featured with a completely different style and color scheme,
but its all very pleasing to the eye and down to earth.
Many of the customers looking for accommodation here are back
packer and we try very hard to make stunning rooms that could
fit into anyones budget, because traveling Egypt can be hard at
times, there is not much in the mid range where you can find that
little thing that makes it special.
We
offer a self catered kitchen as well if you miss cooking or feel
nervous about having your food properly cooked. The food
in Dahab is very good and there is nothing to worry about,
but we understand that a tourist coming to Egypt can be skeptic
need some time to see how good it really is. The food in Dahab
is easily affordable for any budget, but sometimes if you are
traveling for a longer time or if you just enjoy cooking you would
want to cook for your self and you have the choice.
All of our rooms have private bath room and new air condition
system that is serviced every year. Most of the systems can also
be used as heaters and this is a big benefit in winter, because
believe it or not, but the winters in Egypt can get cold at times.
If you are coming in winter time we recommend you to bring something
warm, because in an evening out in the street you might get a
bit of a chill.
Dahab is the best place you can travel to in Egypt if you have
children, it is very peace full and quiet, your children can run
around playing on the beaches while you can enjoy your time. Dahab
is a safe place, the number of reported thefts and other forms
of criminal offenses are record low.
We have wireless Internet for all the customers to use without
charge.
If you come to Jowhara hotel and you wish to stay in the "Stay
Young" part of the hotel please request this in the reception.

The Stay Young Hotel is located inside Jowhara hotel. Jowhara
means jewel in Arabic and the old name of the hotel was "Jewel
of Dahab". Most drivers know the Jowhara hotel and if they
dont its right across the street from Penguin and Christina Beach
Hotel. Be warned that some drivers have a tendency to say that
a hotel is closed. This is because the driver gets a commission
to bring their customers to a specific hotel.
Stay Young is located in Mashraba street wich is the most popular
area for the bazaars and hotels. The biggest benefit of being
situated in Mashraba is that its right between the Lagoona and
the Lighthouse. Stay Young is just a 100 meters off the beach
and you can find some of the best restaurants in Dahab within
500 meters.
Lighthouse
is the Diving capitol, it is here
you find most of the dive centers and is also the training area
for almost all of the beginning divers. It is also a good place
for snorkeling and there are no private beaches here so you are
not locked down to picking a hotel with a private beach. Lighthouse
is about 7-8 minutes walk from the hotel and you can take a taxi
down there for less than one USD without any bargaining skills.
The Lagoona is the wind/kite surfing
kingdom, it is a beautiful lagoon of fine sand naturally created.
The centers here offers brand new equipment and properly educated
instructors. It is getting more and more famous because the semi
closed Lagoona has the conditions that makes it so easy for beginners
to catch up and when you have the proper training and feel confident
you can take it out in the open ocean.
